John Burbank on Wealth For Common Good

"This morning I read this article about this group that’s actually organizing because they want to bring a higher tax rate back to those making over $235,000 a year, actually want to pay more in taxes. And I’m trying to understand this in this time of tremendous greed in this country. We have people who actually want to pay more taxes, that think they make more than enough money. My guest is the executive director of the Economic Opportunity Institute. And before founding this group, he was the project manager of the Sand Point Community Housing Association, political director of the Washington State Labor Council, the staff coordinator for the Washington State Senate, and director for the Community Labor Coalition in Rhode Island. He’s also a member of Wealth For Common Good, which believes that people who have taxable income of more than $235,000 a year should support restoring the top federal income tax rate to 39.6 percent (from 35 percent) right now, not in 2011 when the higher rate is scheduled to return, when the Bush tax cuts are supposed to expire. John Burbank, thank you for joining us."
