Message Subject: African American Woman against Cain for Obama
Your Message: I have been a listener of your show for a little more than (1) year now, and this is the first time that I have felt compelled to contact the show to provide a response to a question posed to the public. I must say that I hate the show, so much in fact that your show is the only reason why I continue to subscribe to Sirius/XM;-)
During the last 1/2 hour of your show (10/20/11) you asked African-Americans to call in with an explanation as to why Herman Cain is currently the front runner if republicans are considered “racist”. I must say that I (initially) was surprised, as I too thought that they would never vote for an African-American president, especially one that had dark skin. After much consideration, I have come up with the following: I truly believe that the republicans dislike Obama’s policies (first and foremost), and the fact that he’s a black man increases this intense dislike that they have for him. On the other hand, Herman Cain is new to the scene and he’s a conservative that is in direct contrast with Romney. The republicans have never liked Romney; this shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. They were hoping that Perry could provide some hope, but he only reminds them of Bush, and nobody wants to see that man reincarnated for a 3rd term. Their “anonymous” vote over phone/online polling for Cain is more about their dislike and contempt for the republican candidates than it is about Cain. They are ANGRY and running scared of Obama. I say anonymous b/c they are either not admitting to their family and friends that they polled such a way, OR they are joking about the fact that the media is taking them so seriously. At the end of the day, they would NEVER really make him the nominee…never!!! Unfortunately, our country was built on hate for any group that’s different from the Western European or Anglo Saxon. And every group that differs have had to fight for equality ON EVERY LEVEL. Cain is the black man in the room that’s dancing for them, and they are enjoying the show. He has made really insulting remarks about his own people for his own benefit (something that’s not foreign to the African-American race. He’s stepping on his own people to get ahead; history always seems to repeat itself). The republicans are simply entertained by him because he’s the only one that can say what they are thinking…For if they said it themselves they would be considered a racist. Hell, the other republican candidates are afraid to “really” attack him, for fear of alienating minorities even more. Further, white Americans have ALWAYS run this country, and believe me they want their “good old white boy” back in the highest office of the land (we must not fall for the banana in the tailpipe, Pete). Herman Cain has made a blanket statement that African-Americans have been brainwashed. In my opinion, this statement is not only sad, but highlights his ignorance, and how out of touch he is with reality. I am an educated African-American woman that is an independent that leans democrat. I have grown a strong dislike for republican policies over the years, which include their ideology on tax breaks for the rich, deregulation, abortion, and war to name a few. I have never known a more hypocritical group of people. They continue to mix church and state. Twist the constitution to fit their own needs, and feel self-righteous in imposing their beliefs on others. They don’t believe in allowing a woman to chose, however they they don’t want to take care of or educate the children that have been left behind. Oh no, republicans don’t believe in taking care of the poor, providing for our veterans, allowing for universal healthcare, or simply educating our youth; but yes, war, war is important. Deregulating to create jobs; what jobs?? I enjoy fresh tap water, healthy food, federal parks, and equal opportunity in the workplace. Regulation has come about b/c others abused their liberties (hmm sounds familiar with the housing crisis). Simply put, the republican party’s policies don’t fit my lifestyle. I am a school psychologist and I fit the definition of “middle class,” and currently, I feel attacked by the republican party. Brainwashed…NO. Informed…YES. I voted for Obama for so many reasons, and I will vote for him again for the same reasons. He believes in working for the American People…simply put. He advocates for my beliefs of education and healthcare, amongst other things. The fact that he’s a black man is icing on the cake. If Cain were running against a white Obama, there is no question that I would vote for the white Obama. I take my right to vote VERY SERIOUSLY, as my ancestors died for my right to do just that. Finally, I wish to end this email by saying that it’s very interesting how so many polls and republicans report that Obama’s policies are failed and that he’s a (1) term president, yet they are shaking in their boots as to who can beat him; interesting. If he’s doing such a horrible job, then why are they AFRAID to go up against him in 2012? Further, the president CAN’T do it all alone. This do nothing House, and confused Senate simply disgusts me.

At the height of this housing bubble, $750,000 would barely buy a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 1,300 sq. Ft. house in a crappy part of Oakland.

I agree with you wholeheartedly and am glad you have included this idea on your show – the issue is not really global warming and its cause, but conservation of biodiversity and renewable energy sources etc.
I thought I would give you a bit on info to share when a caller suggests that we produce so little CO2 compared to other greenhouse gases that are natural.

First off, it is obviously concerning that Iran could come to exercise any influence in Iraq, given the views of the leadership of Iran regarding the US and Israel.
You’ve said we have all been affected; I do not believe that to be true.

Pete, on the surface your argument has some merit, but in the business world demand for a product certainly follows its creation. Re: the iPod, the Blackberry, video games, etc. Nobody knew about these things until they hit the market. It is marketing that creates demand, and the demand must be met with on the self items ready for sale. Government jobs are not the path to economic wealth.

Why the Rich Should Pay More Taxes
Why the Rich Should Pay More Taxes
Sent on September 27th, 2010
There is an actual tangible reason why rich people should pay more. They get more from it. They engage in more commerce, meaning the infrastructure of the nation benefits them more. They have more liquid capital reserves (cash, bonds, shares) so their FDIC insurance costs more and agencies like The sec have more work as a result of their accumulation of stocks, bonds and other investments.
Unfortunately, the tax code is so byzantine that only the rich can afford someone to navigate it for them. Lamentably, fixing that is not on the table, so raising the base line is the only feasible option. It did not destroy the 1994 recovery as predicted, and at 39.6% for the richest, the country experienced a return to the prosperity of the 1950’s, when taxes on extraordinary income were in the 90% range.
But of course it’s still “true:” taxes destroy the economy.
