ScienceDaily (Apr. 10, 2012) — Record and near-record breaking temperatures dominated the eastern two-thirds of the United States and contributed to the warmest March on record for the contiguous United States, a record that dates back to 1895. More than 15,000 warm temperature records were broken during the month.

Maybe when wild fire start igniting in people’s back yards for no apparent reason we might get their attention. Or they might just go with God did it to send me a sign.
Will we ever turn this corner? I don't see it any time soon.

You can't build a beach one grain of sand at a time. You need a bull-dozer.
Top issues for me in the upcoming election- in order of importance. 1. Protect the world; reverse climate change 2. Protect the constitution from abuses of military expansion 3. Protect the economy only after taking care of the first two The best time to get a massive dose of medicine is when we are already down and in need of care. So far, neither Obama nor Romney has shown any leadership in protecting any of these issues. Not Voting For Obama |

Things will never change if I vote for Obama. That is the same as saying, what he has done is Okay. It isn't.
His policies have not shown protection of the world, unless you can show me differently. And he has acted contrary to protecting liberties. Someone has to stop and do what's right for a change. That has to start with me. I'll write-in someone if I have to, but I see no difference between what Romney says and what Obama does. I wish I knew who. "We're still waiting on the world to change." Tweedle-dee or Tweedle-dumb. Corporate Hack A or B, same thing. We could just flip a coin and probably get the same effect from the White House. . |

Another thing to remember is that even if the economy is your top and only priority, it does better under Democratic leadership. The Republican plans ever since Reagan have been to maximize the wealth of the already wealthy, expand military/prisons spending and cut spending everywhere else. This recepi is a disaster for 99.9 percent of America.
The two party system with the right wing GOP and the centrist Dems have a strangle hold o. Our electorial politics. Plus even the centrists are labeled Communists, dictators, etc. That just prevents them from even trying to move leftward. We can vote third party, but unfortunately all that will do in this 50/50 split nation is give the country to the GOP (see younger Bush's first "election"). We could also start putting progressive Dems into office where we can in he hope they can get into national politics at a later time without selling out. This doesn't seem to be working either. So I really don't know what we can do. I do know however, that when considering these facts, it really pisses me off when the right complains that leftists are controlling the country. I only wish that was true.

We see from Bush's SCOTUS picks how critical it is not to let a Republican be president. Do any of us really want a five, six, or seven justice conservative majority for the next twenty or thirty years (or more)? If We think its bad now, we ain't seen nothin yet.

Well, Obama did get the incredibly high fuel efficiency standards in place. You HAVE to give him credit for that.
And though I am no fan, I do recognize that in the recent and current climate... there would be a House bill passed saying the sky was yellow if Obama said it was blue. |

I can't say that I agree with Lisa Jackson being a bull dog either but she is better than what we had. I do however love the tax incentives for making homes more efficient. I was going to put in new windows that year anyway (interset rates were too good NOT to refi and do a little construction) but I fully took advantage of that rebate as well. All in all, I didn't even pay for my new windows and siding because of my interest savings and came out still saving money in the end... the deduction was just gravy. |

We got the deduction for an energy hot water heater. We got one of the gas ones that only turns on to heat when you need it, and only heats what you use.
The down side is that now we don't have a hot water tank that runs empty to let us know when we need to stop taking that really nice hot shower - so we use more water. Oh well. For the rest of the time its a great saver. |

When I see comments like that it makes it hard for me to take anything you say serious in that post. That is just a wildly outrageous statement and can’t be allowed to stand unchallenged.

Tell me why he's different? I voted for him the first time. But I'm feeling rather lost about it now. Have you heard about the Matt Tiberi article in Rolling Stone? Are you aware that he loads his committees with corporate insiders? Industry insiders? He gives a mouth to Union folks - but ignores them and those who raise flags of caution. So, convince me. I mean it. I want to vote for him, but I can't see him as anything different than a pro-business Republican. . |

Wow, this thread reminds me of the last year I voted (which was when GW was running his second term). I voted for him because in my estimation as a generally conservative individual he was the "lesser of two evils". And before you start the, "GW's da debil" speech, spare me. I've seen the koolaid that is Obama and still ain't drinkin' it.
I'm with you Ian. I've had enough of voting for the lesser of two evils. To me, it's the same as, "This guy will full on hard core rape you in the ass!" "well so will that guy!" "Nah, he'll just stick the tip in". Either way you just got ass raped.

I appreciate your sentiment. I'm not sure I can call either candidate evil, but I certainly don't feel like they represent me.

I can totally see the point about the lesser of two evils ( or of two bad choices, if you will), but I'm honestly asking, what else can we do?

Wow CMAC, two groans in one day? Did you disagree that vehemently with what I had to say, or are you just a lil afraid of some good ol' ass rapin' comparisons?
