Gingrich: Sleeping with the Enemy?

I just realized that Gingy is married to a woman named in honor of another religion. Calysta being the nymph daughter of Triton.

I dont care, i just think it is amusing for such a self-identified hard core christian conservative to be married to someone named for a figure in another religion.

I believe Gingrich became a Catholic because of his wife. (Which is funny, because the Catholic church isn't supposed to marry people who have previously been married, unless that spouse died.) Gingrich does what benefits him. He'll tell people what they want to hear, and he'll convert his religion if he gets sex out of it.

I was baptized Catholic at birth which I guess entitles me to be considered "Catholic" by the Church though I do not consider myself Catholic. I married my 3rd wife in a Catholic church as that is her religion and I find myself "between denominations" so wasn't adverse to agreeing to the ceremony.

I had to get the first two marriages annulled and then the wedding was allowed. I personally do not consider either of my marriages annulled but if that's what I had to do in order to qualify for the ceremony that was fine by me.

Anyway just a little insight such as it is.

So what...Gingrich sounds like something having to do with an anus and a blunt instrument. Does that mean his wife is sleeping with the proctologist?

I never said he WAS married to the actual mythological Calysta.

Nor did I reference what something sounded like.

Generally people honor their religion by choosing names from their own texts, not from texts they claim are heretical, wrong or evil.

It would be like a devout Christian marrying someone whos name honors something counter to Christianity, like "Pagan" or "Satan".

Nl need to apologize, sometimes we need to revisit threads/topics, and it can be much better to continue on in a thread rather than start a new one and make all of the same arguments over again.

Annulments were the only way the Catholic church would have been OK with the marriage. Otherwise, they wouldn't marry youas it would be viewed they are ma rrying an "adulterer" in a house of God. Unless the rules have changed since my mother remarried in the late 70s, an annulment also has an effect on your children in the eye of the church. if my mother annuled her first marriage that produced me, I would have also been "annuled" in the eyes of the church and could not receive confirmation, communion, etc etc etc.

I think Newty palmed a little cash to make them look the other way.

That's an interesting one. My parents divorced in 70 & my mom passed in 96; when my Dad married his new wife she wanted to get married Catholic so he had to have his marriage to my mother annulled. I guess that means I'm illegitimate now in the eyes of the Church?

Fortunately for me I don't really pay much attention to what the Catholic Church thinks...

Well that's what they claim anyway.

"Upon this rock I will build my church." Catholics believe this is referring to the Pope, Protestants believe Christ was talking about Faith in Him, not a person.

There's other scriptural arguments but that's the basic disagreement, especially in lieu of all the corruption and other crap that's happened in the Catholic church over the years.

Me, I wonder why we don't pay more attention to James, the Bishop of Jerusalem, and Jesus' brother (real, actual, same mother (and father) brother).

Same problem as with Islam I suppose. The buds beat out the bros everytime.
