It seems to bring the point that conservatives think sex is just for procreation and not ever for recreation. Apparently some people think we still live in Victorian England.

From the article linked,

Quote:
"Thousands of children are deprived of birth in this state every year because of the lack of state regulation over vasectomies," said bill author Yasmin Neal in a statement. "It is patently unfair that men can avoid unwanted fatherhood by presuming that their judgment over such matters is more valid than the judgment of the General Assembly, while women's ability to decide is constantly up for debate throughout the United States."

It is a pretty stupid bill. The equivalent of vasectomy for a female would be tubal ligation not an abortion.

I think she is speaking for the contraception debate. Contraception implies that in the future, they will want to have a child, but not today. Vasectomy implies no future procreation to occur. A little different, but still the point remains valid to the arguments being made 'against' contraception. You'd think these sames religious groups who oppose contraception would be even more so opposed to vasectomies.

The point of the "Vasectomy Bill" is to point out the hubris of any bill banning or interfering in birth control or abortion.

I thought conservatism was about getting the government the hell out of people's lives......

How about a bill that prohibits insurance paying for viagra? Only available if the man can prove he is obtaining it for reproductive purposes. Not just the joy of having a multiple hour erection.
