Default Anyone Running a Cummins ISX 450

Just got a new to me 2006 KW with an ISX 450 that i have not driven yet. I've run c13 and c15 cats. I love the pulling power of the c15 at 475hp, just wondering how a 450hp ISX compares. Thanks..

how is the low end pull? heavy hauling needs the bottom torque to get going. the c15's i've run pull hard right from idle the c13's need to be twisted a lil bit to make power.

I do heavy haul and it works fine. I have been as heavy as 155,000 and it pulled it up a 6% grade at 25 mph. I have the 2007 so it has the emissions on it (aftertreatment, etc...) and I have had some minor issues with "check engine" lights and a few sensors, but it rarely shuts me down.

I had an '04 ISX 475 with a 12 spd Meritor Freedomline and it was very enjoyable to drive as long as it wasn't too hot outside or too cold. I now have a 455 DD15 multitorque with a 10 spd ultrashift which is unfazed by ambient conditions and quite competent but not as sporty as the ISX. Can't complain about the fuel mileage though, last tank : Laramie, WY to Portland, OR 8.56 mpg ( rain, variable wind, 62 mph in WY-UT-ID, 59 in OR)

Cummins ISX 435-565hp is the SAME motor. Only difference is the computer code.

435-450hp engines often have scaled back torque specs to allow for the cheaper straight 10 trannies. This is usually found in fleet trucks.

However, if you have a Super 10, 13spd, or 18 spd? You can have Cummins re-flash the ECM for higher torque/hp, upto 565hp.
