We went live to the East Room of the White House for President Obama awarding the Medal of Honor to Leslie H. Sabo Jr.

Following that we talked to Dean Baker, writes a weekly column for the Guardian Unlimited (UK), the Huffington Post, TruthOut, and his blog, Beat the Press, features commentary on economic reporting. He is the co-director of the Center for Economic Policy and Research.  He chatted about the economy and deadlock in Congress.

Next we welcomed our friends John Avlon (CNN, Newsweek, Daily Beast) and Will Cain (CNN, National Review, the Blaze) in studio.  They discussed Mitt Romney’s time at Bain Capitol, capitalism, and the campaign.

To explain the California debt crisis, we went to Tracy Gordon, fellow in the Economic Studies Program at the Brookings Institution.

It was then time to read emails, followed by Pete asking listeners to call in and tell us how concerned they are about the debt.

Today we started things off with talking about our fun Ustream adventure tomorrow.  Go here at 1:30pm tomorrow for our public ideas meeting and chat with us.  We don’t know exactly what to expect, should be fun and hopefully funny.

We then went live to Des Moines, Iowa for Mitt Romney’s campaign speech.  Pete then asked listeners to call in to react.

Our first guest joined us in studio.  He’s Mike Scotti, co-producer and narrator of the documentary, “Severe Clear” and author of the new book, “The Blue Cascade: A Memoir of Life After War“, which comes out today.  He told us about his life and new book.

Then we spoke with Maya MacGuineas, Director of the Fiscal Policy Program at the New America Foundation, a nonpartisan think tank.  She discussed the tax uncertainty in our future.

Pete then hosted a debate of sorts.  We had Eric Segall, from Georgia State University argue the point he makes in his LA Times Op-Ed that same sex marriage is a state issue, while Sonja West of the University of Georgia argued her Slate piece that it’s a Constitution issue.

Then it was email time.

We ended the program with a quick call segment on if you are against compromise in Congress.

To discuss the JP Morgan mess, we went to William K. Black, law professor at the University of Missouri at Kansas City and author of “The Best Way to Rob a Bank is to Own One“.

Pete asked listeners to comment on Mitt Romney speaking at Liberty University.

Changing topics, Pete asked conservatives to call in and tell us if they think Wall Street should be regulated or not.

Our next guest was Dr. Jason Johnson, Political Science and Communications professor at Hiram College.  He and Pete discussed the Republican party and Mitt Romney as the nominee.

Then we welcomed in studio filmmaker John Hoffman and Dr. Judith Salerno, who talked about their new HBO documentary “The Weight of the Nation“, which premieres tonight at 8pm on HBO.

Pete then took calls asking people to give solutions to our obesity epidemic in America.

It was then time to read emails.  From there he plaid a new Obama ad which attacks Romney’s work at Bain Capitol, then asked listeners if it’s fair to go after Bain.

The first in studio guest was the Libertarian nominee for President of the United States, Gov. Gary Johnson.  Talked about his libertarian platform and reacted to President Obama coming out for same-sex marriage.

Our friend Barry Ritholtz of the Big Picture Blog, joined us in studio as well.  Pete had listeners call in to talk about economic positions that do not carry weight.

Our next guest was Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the founder and CEO of the Cordoba Initiative, he has served as the Imam of the al-Farah mosque.  He was once the lead cleric associated with the proposed Islamic community center close to the World Trade Center.  He discussed his new book “Moving the Mountain: Beyond Ground Zero to a New Vision of Islam in America”.

Well the President of the United States is gay….er…I mean he came out in favor of same-sex marriage.

The news broke right when we came on air.  So we immediately took calls to get reactions.

Our first guest was civil rights icon, Julian Bond, Chairman Emeritus of the NAACP.  He’s been vocal about getting the African American community behind the LGBT movement.  On our program he reacted to the President’s announcement and discussed civil rights and the same sex marriage movement.

Since Moderate Republican Senator Richard Lugar lost his primary last night in Indiana, we discussed his legacy and the future of his seat/party with John T. Shaw, Congressional Correspondent for Market News International and author of the book “Richard G. Lugar: Statesman of the Senate: Crafting Foreign Policy From Capitol Hill“.

We then took more calls on President Obama’s big announcement.

In studio we welcomed back stand-up comedian and SiriusXM host of the Six Pack on OutQ 108 (Saturdays at 1pm ET), Dave Rubin.  He joined the conversation we had all day on same-sex marriage.

Our first guest was Evan Wolfson, president of Freedom To Marry.  He gave us his take on President Obama’s same sex marriage stance(s).

Based off of this piece in Think Progress, Pete asked listeners to call in to explain why Obama is anti business.

Shifting gears, the next guest was Tanya Luhrmann, Watkins University Professor in the Department of Anthropology at Stanford.  Pete interviewed her regarding her op-ed in yesterday’s New York Times, “Do as I Do, Not as I Say“.

We then took calls on Tanya’s op-ed, asking listeners to tell us what they think about the disconnect between Democrats and evangelicals.

Our first guest was Ali Soufan, former FBI Special Agent, national security expert and the author of the book “The Black Banners: the Inside Story of 9/11 and the War Against al-Qaeda”.  Ali gave us his take on the the 9/11 Gitmo prisoners and their trails.

We shifted gears to Europe and the major elections from Sunday (France, Greece, Putin swearing in).  To discuss that we spoke to Jeffrey J. Anderson, European Politics expert, and professor and director of the BMW Center for German and European Studies at Georgetown University.

CNN Senior Congressional Correspondent, Dana Bash joined us to talk about this week in Congress, now that their back in session and Sen. Richard Lugar’s contentious fight to stay in office.

Pete had listeners call in who considers themself to be on the fence when it comes to the Presidential race.

Our friend; comedian, actor and CNN personality, John Fugelsang popped in studio for the final hour.  He and Pete discussed the Obama Administration and their take on gay marriage.
