Pete had a profound experience on Monday that led unexpectedly to some very powerful radio on today. Here are two clips of audio, including Pete’s introduction to the heart-wrenching story of the death of Marine Cpl. Derek Wyatt, whose only child was born shortly after news of his death reached Derek’s wife stateside. Then Pete reads an email from Derek’s father-in-law. The second clip features Pete reading and discussing an email he received during the show from Derek’s sister-in-law.

Food Safety Expert Marion Nestle on New FDA Legislation

Marion Nestle is Paulette Goddard Professor in the Department of Nutrition, Food Studies, and Public Health (which she chaired until 2003) and Professor of Sociology at New York University. She is the author of the 2002 book Food Politics: How the Food Industry Influences Nutrition and Health and the book Safe Food: Bacteria, Biotechnology, and Bioterrorism. Her book What to Eat, was named one of Amazon.com’s top books of 2006.
